Dural Arteriovenous Fistula at The Craniocervical Junction Has a Close Relationship With The Vertebral Artery

چکیده
A rare case of the dural arteriovenous fistula at the craniocervical junction which stemmed from subarachnoid hemorrhage was reported with some exceptional neuroradiological images, which would be useful for the diagnosis. Besides, in the case of subarachnoid hemorrhage due to unknown origin this disease should be taken into consideration. Furthermore, the especial anatomical feature of this disease that lesions are closely associated with the vertebral artery was clarified by reviewing all the cases which have been published so far. Considering this feature, as the dural branches from the vertebral artery is quite tiny, the surgical obstruction of feeding arteries would be preferable to the endovascular treatment.

Progressive myelopathy caused by dural arteriovenous fistula at the craniocervical junction--case report.
A 68-year-old male presented an unusual dural arteriovenous fistula (AVF) located at the craniocervical junction. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed dilated perimedullary veins around the spinal cord at C-1 and C-2 levels, as well as high intensity signals in the spinal cord on T2-weighted images. Vertebral angiography identified an AVF at the point where the right vertebral artery penetrates ...

MR imaging showed swelling and diffuse signal changes in the spinal cord in two patients with progressive myelopathy. MR angiography revealed slow-flow perimedullary vessels extending to the skull base, which are consistent with drainage vessels of a dural arteriovenous fistula at the craniocervical junction. This fistula was subsequently seen in both patients on selective arteriograms of the a...

We present a case of a ruptured vertebral artery dissecting aneurysm that mimicked a presumed vascular anomaly by CTA (Computerized Tomographic Angiography). A parenchymal arteriovenous malformation (AVM) or a dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF) at the craniocervical junction can present with a subarachnoid hemorrhage and cannot be differentiated from a vertebral artery dissection by non invasiv...
متن کاملBrainstem Congestion due to Dural Ateriovenous Fistula at the Craniocervical Junction
Dural ateriovenous fistula (DAVF) at the craniocervical junction is rare. We report a patient presenting with brainstem dysfunction as an uncommon onset. Brainstem lesion was suggested by magnetic resonance image study. Angiogram revealed a DAVF at a high cervical segment supplied by the meningeal branch of the right vertebral artery, with ascending and descending venous drainage. Complete obli...
متن کاملAcute Tetraparesis with Respiratory Failure after Steroid Administration in a Patient with a Dural Arteriovenous Fistula at the Craniocervical Junction
A 63-year-old man developed vomiting, paraparesis, dysuria, bulbar palsy, and orthostatic hypotension over a period of 5 months. Neuroradiological examinations showed a swollen lower brainstem with a dural arteriovenous fistula at the craniocervical junction (DAVF-CCJ). A steroid was administered intravenously in the hospital to relieve brainstem edema. A few hours later, however, the patient d...
